Our Story
Peter Ochab, founded Pete's Place Restaurant in Brownstown in December of 1983. At the age of 19, and with no restaurant experience whatsoever, he turned a small 800 square foot coney island into a multiple location operation. He will laugh and tell you that one of his first customers showed him how to make different kinds of breakfast eggs. Pete went on to open the Taylor Pete's Place in 1989.
Pete's Place is known for flavorful foods prepared fresh daily and for the extreme hospitality you will encounter from our friendly servers. Pete is most concerned with providing products which are high in quality, generous in portions, and superior in freshness. He focuses on a home cooking concept, emphasizing quality and freshness. Customers feel as though they are guests in the home of good friends. It's not uncommon to hear your name called out by one of our servers on a busy Sunday morning. Pete's Place was recently selected as the best place Downriver for "Cheap Eats", was given the "Best Soup" award at the News Herald soup day in 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 for his legendary Loaded Baked Potato Soup and voted "Best Chili" for his famous Pete's Kicked Up' Chili at the City of Taylor Midtown Chili Cook Off. This puts meaning behind the slogan "Good Food, Fresh Service".

Soup has a quality that provides comfort and a sense of well-being for many people. We keep that in mind each morning during preparation.
